Uco was a nefarious mobster who is the son of Bangun and the rogue deuteragonist of The Raid 2: Berandal.

Biography[]

Early Life and Ambition[]

Uco was raised by his father, a man who had painstakingly constructed a vast criminal empire over the course of his lifetime. Throughout his upbringing, Uco forged a close friendship with Prakoso, a fiercely loyal enforcer who had dedicated three decades of his life to serving Uco's father.

Uco harbored ambitions that mirrored his father's, driven by the same burning desire to ascend to the pinnacle of their criminal organization. However, Bangun, Uco's father, carried the wisdom of experience and foresaw the potential for Uco to repeat the same missteps he had made in his own youth. With this in mind, Bangun sought to carefully manage and guide Uco's development, with the ultimate goal of molding him into a leader who would be as flawless and successful as he himself had become.

Imprisonment and Friendship[]

A vengeful politician, harboring a grudge against Uco, had him imprisoned on unknown charges. In response, Bangun, Uco's father and a powerful figure in the criminal world, took action to protect his son within the confines of the prison. He enlisted the services of men like Benny to ensure Uco's safety and security, utilizing the network established by Eka, his trusted underboss.

During his time behind bars, Uco formed an unexpected bond with an inmate named Yuda. Uco was deeply impressed by Yuda's formidable fighting skills, demonstrated when Yuda singlehandedly defeated several men in a brutal altercation that ended with him plunging an adversary into a toilet. This admiration led Uco to extend an invitation for Yuda to join his father's gang, believing that Yuda's skills could be a valuable asset.

Uco's esteem for Yuda grew even further when he learned that Yuda had taken on and decisively beaten the politician's son, someone Uco deeply despised. This act cemented the bond between Uco and Yuda.

Their newfound friendship was put to the test when Benny and a group of conspirators attempted to assassinate Uco within the prison walls. Yuda, intervened swiftly and skillfully, ensuring that Uco remained unharmed while incapacitating or eliminating their assailants. This altercation triggered a full-scale prison riot, pitting the inmates against the prison guards.

As a result of this life-saving act, Uco felt a profound debt of gratitude towards Yuda and, recognizing his worth, extended an invitation for Yuda to become a member of his father's gang.

Invitation and Back to Work[]

Two years had passed since Eco's imprisonment. On this day, his father, along with his loyal henchman, Eka, came to visit him in the prison. However, Uco couldn't help but feel a surge of jealousy when he witnessed the strong bond between his father and Yuda, a bond that seemed to threaten his own standing with his father.

Uco, Yuda, and Eka crossed paths with Topan, a notorious pornographic filmmaker. Uco's initial purpose was to collect some owed money from Topan, but he soon discovered that this money served as protection for Topan's illegal activities, including his involvement in the world of crime. When Yuda managed to defeat Topan's henchmen in a fierce battle, it escalated into a full-blown gunfight, resulting in casualties on both sides, including two of Uco's associates.

Impressed by Yuda's prowess, Bangun, Uco's father, commended him on his handling of the situation. This praise left Uco pondering why his father seemed to regard Yuda almost like a father figure, showing sympathy that he rarely extended to Uco himself.

Later, at a karaoke bar where two hostesses were performing, an altercation broke out. Uco's temper flared when one of the hostesses berated him for attacking her friend. He lashed out at her, causing a commotion. Rama, attempting to ease the tension, offered to sing a song, but Uco persisted in his assault. Another hostess activated an alarm, bringing henchmen to the scene to inquire about the disturbance.

But Uco had a hidden agenda: he aimed to overthrow his father as the crime boss, turning the Yakuza and their gang into enemies. He arranged a meeting with Bejo at a restaurant, where Bejo presented a gruesome task—killing five men. Unbeknownst to Uco and Bejo, Rama had wired himself to record their conversation, seeking justice for his brother's death.

Uco's father, infuriated by his son's actions, decided to confront him violently. In a fit of rage, he began to assault Uco, with Eka eventually stepping in to intervene before matters got even worse.

Relationships[]

Bangun[]

The relationship between Uco and his father, Bangun, is complex and strained. Bangun is a prominent crime boss, while Uco is his son. Despite the blood tie, their connection is fraught with tension and conflicting ambitions.

Uco's character is defined by his desire for power and recognition within his father's criminal empire. He aspires to take on a more prominent role in the organization, even if it means challenging his father's authority. Uco is jealous of the attention and favor that his father shows to other members of the gang, particularly Yuda. This jealousy fuels Uco's ambition to prove himself and eventually replace his father as the head of the crime family.

Bangun, on the other hand, is a traditional and experienced crime lord. He is cautious and careful in his dealings, prioritizing the stability and longevity of his criminal operations. While he cares for Uco as his son, he also recognizes Uco's impulsive and reckless nature, which often puts the organization at risk. Bangun tries to protect Uco from the more dangerous aspects of their criminal world, but he also reprimands him when Uco's actions jeopardize the business.

Their relationship is further strained when Uco becomes entangled with Bejo, a ruthless and ambitious criminal who has his own plans for taking over the criminal underworld. Uco's association with Bejo puts him on a collision course with his father's values and goals.
